Lunch at Lapham
Tuesdays and Wednesdays, at noon, $4
Starting September 7 at Lappham
      Lunch is served at noon sharp and we need reservations at least a day ahead at 203-594-3620. Local caterer Susan Goodman cooks on Wednesdays, and on Tuesdays Lyn Bond rustles up lunch with the help of local shops. We still have cooking and serving assistance from church and synagogue volunteers including Jenny Taraz who coordinates the volunteers and helps Lyn every Tuesday.

Thanksgiving Lunch and St. Lukes's School Concert
Wednesday, November 17, 11:30 a.m. $4
      Susan Goodman will cook a traditional Thanksgiving lunch which will be followed by our equally traditional concert featuring the talented singers from St. Luke's School. Music Department Chair Dale Griffa will bring the students to our luncheon for the 8th year! Thanksgiving lunch is served at Waveny House and reservations are needed by Friday, November 12 at 203-594-3620.

Healthcare Reform and its impact on Medicare Beneficiaries
Wednesday, September 15,1:00 p.m.
     On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law. Christina Crain, Director of the CHOICES Program at the Southwestern CT Agency on Aging, will present an overview of what this new Health Reform law is, including closing the donut hole in Medicare Plan D and enhanced preventive benefits under traditional Medicare as well as timelines of when various parts will be implementad and how they will affect Medicare beneficiaries.
     Ms. Crain will not take sides; she will present facts on what is in the new law and what the changes mean to Medicare beneficiaries.
     Registration is necessary so we have sufficient seating and handouts.

     The next open enrollment period, during which you can choose or change Part D plans, is November 15-December 31, 2010. Plan choices made at that time will be effectve January 1, 2011. Bill Emmons and Dick Neville will explain the program enrolllment or changing plans. Please call 203-594-3620 to let us know you are coming so we have sufficient handouts and seating.

Medicare Part D Open Enrollment Assistance
     Even if you are enrolled in a Part D plan, you should compare the 2011 version of your current plan with other 2011 options. Our Medicare counselors will do this for you on the Medicare website. If you want to make a change, they'll enroll you right then.
Call 203-594-3620 after November 1 for an appointment. Remember you only have from November 15 to December 31 to make a change.
